Himachal Pradesh Halts Induction of New IAS and IPS Officers

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the government has decided against inducting new IAS and IPS officers into the state cadre. “With a population of approximately 70 lakh, the state does not require 153 IAS officers. Consequently, the state government has decided against inducting new IAS and IPS officers into the state cadre,” Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said while talking to mediapersons in Solan today. He further said that the government aims to reduce the number of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers as well.

The Chief Minister also pointed out the poor condition of the Solan-Parwanoo four-lane highway and attributed it to the flawed design of the highway. He said he had already discussed the matter with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and had requested a re-design and re-alignment of the highway to improve its condition.
